Guidance & inspiration

Start with one useful thing. You can leave the rest for another day.

Someone has died

Keep a note of what has already happened, the questions you need to ask and who is helping. Your organising space can keep these details together without needing access to an existing plan.

Start organising

For official next steps in your location:

Planning ahead

Write down one preference: a song, a place, something you want or something you would rather avoid. Add where important documents are kept and the people who know the details. You do not need to answer every question.

Record your wishes

Make a farewell personal

Gather a few favourite songs, memories and phrases. For a eulogy, start with who they were to you, one specific story and what you want people to remember. Check names, dates and any wishes they recorded with someone who knew them.

For an order of service or a memory table, keep a shortlist of readings, photographs and people to ask. Record ideas in the Arrangements or Memorial section of your organising space. Stationery purchases and public memorial pages are not available yet.

Keep your ideas together

Practical details and costs

Keep quotes, what is included, payment dates and contact details together. Ask providers to explain optional items before you agree. If there is an existing funeral plan, note the provider and documents so arrangements can be checked.

Goodbye Better records your wishes and arrangements. It does not pay for or provide a funeral.
