Privacy Notice

What this notice covers

This notice describes how Goodbye Better handles information when you use goodbyebetter.com and its private planning spaces. Share only the information you want to record, and take particular care with information about other people.

Information you provide

We use your email address, account identity and optional name to create and protect your account. Your planning information can include wishes, stories, messages, practical details, contacts, documents, arrangements and information about the person you are organising for.

When you use Google sign-in, the authentication provider supplies your basic account identity. We do not use this sign-in to read your email or other Google content. Passwords are processed by the authentication service; Goodbye Better does not save your password in planning records or browser storage.

Why we use it

We use account and planning information to provide the service you request and to save and retrieve your work. We process security and connection information to deliver the site, prevent misuse and investigate faults. These uses support providing the service and our legitimate interest in keeping it reliable and secure.

Optional email updates require a separate choice. You can change that choice in your account, and it does not affect access to your plan. Consent to updates is separate from agreement to the Terms of Service.

Who can access your information

Planning information is private within your account unless you deliberately use a supported sharing feature. Naming a contact, reporting a death or entering an access link does not itself release information.

Authentication, hosting and storage providers process information to operate the service. Authorised service administrators may access records to provide support or protect the service. We do not sell your planning information or use it for advertising.

Cookies and browser drafts

An encrypted, essential sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to eight hours. Signing out clears that cookie. Browser session storage may keep a recovery copy of your entries, separate for each account and from the public example. Avoid using a shared browser for sensitive information.

The application does not enable advertising cookies or marketing analytics. Hosting providers process ordinary connection information when delivering and protecting the site.

Keeping and changing your records

Saved planning records include earlier versions so that updates can be recovered and checked. Editing or removing an item does not immediately erase its history. We keep records needed to provide your account and handle support and deletion requests; a deletion request is reviewed separately from an ordinary edit.

You can view and correct your entries and download a copy of your plan. Use Help to request access, deletion, restriction, an export, or to object to processing where applicable. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Questions and complaints

Record privacy questions through Help. You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office about a data protection concern. The ICO’s information for the public explains your rights.
